About
What is Pond Mile?
In its simplest terms, it is an annual festival which is the creation of Josh and Kim Wooten. It is held on their property in a very rural area of Western New York. It is a weekend of camping next to a pond with a gathering of great people.
If it's just a festival, why use the word Mile?
Great question. Because, though most of the weekend is just camping and relaxing, it is centered around a main event - the epic Pond Mile. It is a mile loop around the property set up like a cross country course. It is run like a beer mile, with beer stations every quarter mile where runners have to stop and imbibe before moving on to the next one.
But I'm no runner!
That doesn't matter at all! In fact, the majority of entrants for the past couple years have not been runners. You can also walk the course, or you can take one of the many support positions. It's all in good fun and no one is forced to run if they don't want to.
